Avery's website is  www.helpavery.bbnow.org

On July 16, 2009, Avery's mother, Valerie, was rushed to St. John's Mercy Hospital. Valerie suffered two seizures due to a very rare disease called Eclampsia, which causes dangerously high blood pressure and eventually the failing of organs. The doctors informed Carl and Valerie's mother that they had to deliver the baby she was carrying as soon as possible or Valerie was going to die because her organs were shutting down. At 12:08 p.m., Valerie gave birth to a 2 pound 4 ounce, 15 inch baby girl. Her name, Avery Izabelle Ward. She came much earlier than expected being born prematurely at only 29 weeks. Avery has done well considering all of her obstacles, including a heart murmur, and after a 6-week long stay in the N.I.C.U., she is home.  Avery came home on a monitor which keeps constant track of her heartbeat and respiration. Her nervous and immune systems are still very immature.  With flu and R.S.V. season rapidly approaching they must be diligent to keep Avery healthy and out of the hospital.  The medical bills continue to pile up despite Avery's homecoming.  She still has many doctors and specialists to see on a regular basis.  The company that Valerie works for does not pay for maternity leave.  The job Carl had made him choose between keeping his job and being available for his daughter and fiance while they were in the hospital.  He chose his family and is currently still searching for another job.  Because of the financial bind of not having enough income and not being able to afford insurance for Avery, Carl and Valerie were forced to move from their home and in with family members.  Without current income or affordable health insurance for their daughter, Carl and Valerie are struggling to pay not only little Avery's medical bills but also their own.  Avery's stay alone in the N.I.C.U. was $1,200.00 a day. This does not include all of the tests, labs, x-rays, blood transfusions or doctor bills.

We are very confident in our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Without him our little miracle would not have come as far as she has. We pray that every person that reads this will go to Avery's web site and under the grace of God, donate to help ease a great burden that the devil has attempted to bestow upon our family. The health care system in our country has created many stories like ours. To know that Dr. Coldwell is a soldier of God, battling in the Name of Jesus to cure not only cancer, but many other diseases that lie in wake in Washington, D.C. and through out our country. We must take notice of the injustice that our so called government and pharmaceutical companies commit on a daily basis at the cost of the lives and hard earned tax payers dollars.  Again, Dr. Coldwell, thank you so much.  This is truly an answer to prayer.  If you need anything else or have any questions please feel free to contact us by email or by phone at (417) 631-6871 or (417) 631-1706.

God bless you,
Carl Ward, Valerie Gaines and Avery Izabelle Ward
